“Compressed air user case at Wabco Poland using VPInstruments products”
Tomasz Olczyk, Maintenance Manager ZF Group – former Wabco

“Compressed Air Systems – Past , Present and Future”
Peter Radgen, Professor at Institute for Energy Economics and Rational use of Energy – University of Stuttgart, German
Summary: Peter Radgen has been the professor behind the publication of the Study ‘Compressed Air System in the European Union’ In 2001. This study provided a first inside in the significant energy and cost saving potentials in compressed air system. Since then, Industry has changed as well as compressed air has changed, and what we can expect from the future. This presentation will give insights into past achievements and future research.

“What else you can do sustainably with air”
Theo Jansen, Owner of Strandbeest
Summary: For 30 years, the visionary artist Theo Jansen has been sculpting an entirely new form of life, not from the protein-based matter that nature provides but from humble PVC pipes. With a boundless imagination, Jansen has engineered these synthetic skeletons to move, not through the mechanical consumption of fuel but by harnessing the raw, untamed power of the wind. Jansen’s ultimate vision is to unleash his creations into the wild, allowing them to roam independently, living out a unique and autonomous existence on the edge of land and sea.

“Theory of Heat recovery from oil injected air compressors: PowERpack and PowERcontrol – a game changer in heat recovery from air compressors”
Łukasz Bartczak, Automation Engineer at ASFI- Augmented Services For Industry
Summary: Heat recovery from air compressors only seems simple at first glance. In practice, this is a difficult issue with many dangers. We will tell you about the effects of the work of our laboratory dedicated to heat recovery from oil compressors, and about possible simple ways of utilizing waste heat from compressors. This is part 1 whereby we will go more in-depth on the theoretical side of the technology. Including showing the advantages and disadvantages of the technology.

Wednesday 18th of September

Lunch
Networking leisure event – Pick up location – lobby
“A2A: the 8 sections effecting reliability and efficiency of compressed air systems”
Josh Wamser, President at Industrial Compressor Solutions
Summary: What is A2A? The A2A concept spans from atmospheric pressure at intake to atmospheric pressure at discharge, covering everything in between. It represents a holistic mindset for compressed air system auditors. This presentation will explore the eight critical sections of a compressed air system, highlighting how each impacts reliability and efficiency. Auditors will gain insights into key audit points, while manufacturing plants will discover actionable strategies for real savings and system optimization. This session is essential for those aiming to improve their compressed air systems’ performance and cost-effectiveness.

Parallel sessions
“Common mistakes affects overall measurement results”
Sjim Jansen, VPInstruments
Blue room
Summary: When measuring correctly your compressed air system, this can lead to amazing energy savings and efficiency improvements. Therefore it is such a pity that the selection and installation of sensors are not always getting the right attention, leading to poor measurement results. This presentation will highlight common errors in the installation and operation of flow meters and other measurement instruments that can lead to inaccurate data and costly inefficiencies in industrial settings. Sjim Jansen will show how to get your measurements right.

FAQ with Pascal van Putten, CEO at VPInstruments
Yellow room – VPInstruments’ Distributors only
Ask any question you have, if it is business, commercial, technical, portfolio. Ask your question to our CEO.

“Benchmarking your utilities. Driving force for energy savings. ”
Menno Verbeek, VPInstruments
Blue room
Summary: Explore the critical role of benchmarking in driving energy efficiency and optimizing the use of compressed air systems and other utilities in industrial settings. This presentation covers different ways of benchmarking and how it supports the baseline for decision-making, improving processes and identifying opportunities for energy savings.

“Marketing tips & tricks”
Cynthia Kuiper, Marketing Director at VPInstruments
Yellow room – VPInstruments’ Distributors only
Summary: How VPInstruments helps and updates her Distributors, how VPInstruments executes her marketing as inspiration and tips and tricks of our learnings.

Dinner
Thursday 19th of September
9:00-13:00
“The Bigger They Are, the Harder They Fall. Using Smart Zone Flow Metering to Quantify Compressed Air Waste and Savings in Large Distributed Systems.”
Tim Dugan, energy analysis engineering consulting engineer, Compression Engineering Corporation
Summary: Tim will present two large flow metering systems that he developed and installed for a large aerospace customer. All had large, interlinked distribution systems, not possible to meter a production area with one meter. He used a “ring” or “zone” methodology, to capture total flow in a region with bi-directional flow meters summed, entering and leaving that area. It allows production area flow metering rather than individual lines. The goal is to develop live and dead load flows by production area. Then, energy efficiency can be linked to the production area.
Large aerospace #1, appx 60 flow meters
Large aerospace #2, appx 30 flow meters

“Modern air compressor technology enhancing system efficiency and sustainability”
Timo Sihvo, Sales Manager at Tamturbo
Summary: Topics that will be included:
– Tamturbo background
– How high-speed technology and active magnetic bearings shifts service orientated air compressor markets to more sustainable direction
– Case studies: From Sustainability KPIs to actual results
– Reliability network in compressed air production
– Compressed air system data analysis for sizing equipment and evaluating savings
– Post analysis and improving the compressed air systems further.

SMC – Interactive hands-on training with practical cases, that represent factory wide concepts for energy savings and process improvements.
